I know in my case, five years out of college and nine years from my (admittedly unorthodox) application process, I would be afraid to write freely about the current college application experience without a heckuva lot of research into it. Perhaps daunting to many authors.Maggie Stiefvaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15842527558335640093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8108330419285670988.post-83586309504998433922007-06-07T18:32:00.000+03:302007-06-07T18:32:00.000+03:30Amen, brother. Of course, in the late 70's this was not an arduous task. ;-)

What I would like to capture in writing (when the right story presents itself) is the college freshman frenzy - the mental state of so many of my peers once in college. Many people have a hard time adjusting to life outside the family, like long-time prisoners suddenly expected to function in society. I talked at least three people out of dropping out their first year. I saw another 5-7 leave.Sam Hranachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08497847902463757400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8108330419285670988.post-9805706758395039772007-06-06T20:27:00.000+03:302007-06-06T20:27:00.000+03:30A teenage friend of ours recently got accepted to ...A teenage friend of ours recently got accepted to UCLA on "appeal." She's a straight "A" student and was accepted everywhere else she applied. After a lengthy appeal process, she was accepted into a less competitive major at UCLA and is thrilled. I was so impressed with her dedication--and agree that type of thing would make a good subplot in an upper YA.heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15338301854400974266noreply@blogger.com
