Finland, Finland, Finland

Finland, Finland, Finland

The country where I want to be

Pony trekking or camping

Or just watching TV

Finland, Finland, Finland

It's the country for me

You're so near to Russia

So far from Japan

Quite a long way from Cairo

Lots of miles from Vietnam

Finland, Finland, Finland

The country where I want to be

Eating breakfast or dinner

Or snack lunch in the hall

Finland, Finland, Finland

Finland has it all

You're so sadly neglected

And often ignored

A poor second to Belgium

When going abroad

Finland, Finland, Finland

The country where I quite want to be

Your mountains so lofty

Your treetops so tall

Finland, Finland, Finland

Finland has it all

Finland, Finland, Finland

The country where I quite want to be

Your mountains so lofty

Your treetops so tall

Finland, Finland, Finland

Finland has it all

Finland has it all
-Michael Palin, Monty Python

And now Finland has Carrie Jones. A free book for anyone who can translate this review. (And are the Fins such rabid consumers of YA fiction that their newspapers regularly review American YA that's not even available in their language? Can I move to Helsinki?)
NOTE: Apparently this is in Swedish, but the newspaper is based in Finland. Good to know.

Are you sure Palin wrote Finland? I was pretty sure it was Eric Idle.

Did I just miss the point?

Too bad it's not Finnish. My Yooper friends know quite a bit of Finnish. But all they taught me is, "Hysta nappa" (smell my navel), and "Suaman buska, un huuva, boika" which I will not translate because it would have a deleterious effect on your internet filter ratings.

Did I just miss the point, too?

Sadly, I can't translate the review. But I did get my hands on a copy of "Tips." Borders had a lovely stack on the summer table. I have it on order from the indie store, but it's not in yet and I just couldn't wait to dig in.

I'm loving it so far. Belle's a total sweetie. I hate Bob-the-icky-Beatles-songs-hummer, and Carrie's details are so good that I can actually feel that east coast frozen fall.

Have fun at BEA!

I wonder what the DDR score is for that article.
GO CARRIE!

Andrew: No, foreign YA is not regularly reviewed over here - only occasionally by afficionados such as myself :o) And I cannot BELIEVE the newspaper has it's own Wiki entry!!!!
Finland truly has it all.
